Scorching Summer Heat Can Damage Your Car’s Interior

If you cannot find a shady place to park, you know the interior of your automobile is going to be miserable when you get back into the car. Mike’s Auto Service & Repair also advises that the summer he can damage your car’s interior. We are going to list some tips below to help you keep the inside of your car cooler, even if it’s parked in the sun. As always, an important reminder is to never leave your children or pets inside the automobile when it’s hot outside.

Use Window Shades

These tips will not cool off the interior enough to make it safe for children or pets to remain in the car. Nonetheless, they will keep the interior a tiny bit cooler and also protect the interior. Using window shades in all of the windows, including the windshield and back window, prevents the sun’s rays from beating down on your car’s interior and fading and cracking it.

Cover the Wheel

You can also cover the steering wheel to prevent it from being faded or cracked. In addition, covering the wheel keeps it cool so you won’t burn your hands when you try to drive your automobile after you are done with your errands or grocery shopping. You can use an old rag, T-shirt, or hand towel to keep the steering wheel covered when you are not using it.

Cover the Seats

To prevent the sun from damaging the seats, cover them after you have parked your automobile, as well. Large beach towels or blankets work perfectly to keep the seats covered and protected from the sun’s rays. In addition, the towels and blankets will prevent the seats from getting too hot. Your legs and behind will thank you for taking the time to cover the seats.

Cover the Dashboard

You probably already know this, but the sun’s rays can crack your dashboard. As such, it’s important to cover the dashboard throughout the summer to prevent damage. You can use towels or you can have a dashboard cover made for your automobile.

Circulate the Air

Finally, before you jump back into your automobile after it has been parked in the sun, open all of the doors and turn on the fan. Wait for a few minutes to allow the hot air to be circulated outside. This makes getting into the vehicle a more pleasant experience.
